Get Up to $4,200 Toward a Panel Upgrade and Home EV Charging
Volta Power Electric is an SCE Charge Ready Home Program Participating Contractor. If your household qualifies, Southern California Edison can cover some or all of the cost of a new electrical panel and a dedicated Level 2 EV outlet, and you don't need to own an electric vehicle yet.
For homes with a main panel under 200 amps. We replace it with a 200-amp or larger panel and run a dedicated 240-volt Level 2 outlet within 25 feet of your off-street parking spot.
For homes that already have a 200-amp panel. We install a dedicated Level 2 EV outlet within 25 feet of your parking spot so you can charge at home overnight.
Income-qualified households: the program can pay us directly for up to 100% of the eligible cost. Disadvantaged-community households: up to 50%, after you pay your half.
Who Qualifies
- You're an SCE residential customer.
- Your household earns under 80% of the area median income, or you're enrolled in a program like CalFresh, Medi-Cal, SSI or WIC.
- Or your home is in a state-designated disadvantaged community. SCE has a ZIP code lookup.
- Renting? You'll need the property owner's approval before work starts.
- No EV needed. Get your home ready now and buy the car later.
How We Help
We look at your panel, tell you which rebate fits, help you apply, pull the permits, do the work to code, and upload the paperwork SCE needs to release the incentive.

Charge Ready Home Program FAQ
What is the SCE Charge Ready Home Program?
It's a Southern California Edison rebate program that helps eligible SCE customers pay for an electrical panel upgrade and a Level 2 EV charging outlet at home. Rebates go up to $4,200 for a panel upgrade with an EV outlet, or up to $1,000 for an EV outlet alone.
Do I need to own an electric vehicle to qualify?
No. SCE says you do not need to own or lease an EV to participate. One thing to plan for: approved participants must install a Level 2 charger within 180 days after receiving the rebate.
Who is eligible for the Charge Ready Home rebate?
You need to be an SCE residential customer and meet one of two conditions. Either your household earns less than 80% of the area median income (or you're enrolled in a qualifying assistance program such as CalFresh, Medi-Cal, SSI or WIC), or your home is in a state-designated disadvantaged community. Renters need the property owner's approval first.
How much will I pay out of pocket?
For income-qualified households, the program can pay the contractor directly for up to 100% of the eligible cost, up to the rebate limit. For households in disadvantaged communities, the program covers up to 50% after you pay the contractor your 50%. We'll give you a clear quote before any work starts.
When can I apply?
You can apply while you're planning the project, during installation, or up to six months after the work is finished.
Is Volta Power Electric a participating contractor?
Yes. Volta Power Electric Inc. is an SCE Charge Ready Home Program Participating Contractor, licensed under CA C-10 License #1161104 and fully insured and bonded. We serve SCE customers across Los Angeles County, Orange County, the Inland Empire and Ventura County. If your power comes from LADWP or another city utility, this program doesn't apply, but we can still quote your panel upgrade or EV charger.
Rebate amounts and eligibility are set by SCE and can change. See current terms at evhome.sce.com.
